Layover Guide’s Suggestions Of Things To Do On A Bangkok Layover

The Grand Palace
The Grand Palace is considered to be one of the “must sees” on a visit to Bangkok. The spectacular palace complex includes Wat Phra Kaeo (Temple of the Emerald Buddha), which contains a stunning Emerald Buddha from the 14th century. There is a strict modest dress code — no see-through clothes, bare shoulders, etc.

Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Wat Pho)
This temple is one of the oldest and largest in Bangkok. It features the largest Buddha in Thailand – the famous Reclining Buddha – measuring more than 150 feet in length. Wat Pho is also Thailand’s first university and the center for the Thai massage. You can get various massage and reflexology treatments here.

Thai Cooking Classes
Taking a Thai cooking class is a nice way to learn about the food of the region, while tasting some wonderful dishes. A couple popular classes are offered at the Baipai Thai Cooking School and the Silom Thai Cooking School.

Samutprakarn Crocodile Farm and Zoo
Samutprakarn Crocodile Farm and Zoo is the World’s oldest and largest crocodile farm. The facility has over 60,000 crocodiles of 28 different species, as well as elephants, tigers, chimpanzees, lions, leopards, snakes, camels, and more. Every hour is a crocodile wrestling show as well as various other shows.

Ancient City theme park
Just outside of Bangkok in Samut Prakan province is the Ancient City, a spacious historical theme park that features 109 replicas of many of Thailand’s most important monuments and historic sites. The Ancient City is quite large, covering some 320 acres of land and is commonly billed as ‘the world’s largest outdoor museum.’

    Rarely seen from other Airlines:
Beside their Business Lounge, Bangkok Airways offers also to it’s economy passengers, holding a connecting or departure ticket with Bangkok Airways, free access to it’s economy lounge, next to domestic gates at Concourse A.

I frequently use the Business Lounge next door, but passing by, can see people lying flat streched out over some chairs for a nap, or having free snacks and drinks. Seems to be enough space even when busy.

Nice service, should be paragon to other airlines.
