The Associate Press wrote a great article on various things to take into account when booking a plane ticket, to ensure you get the best seating possible. There’s a lot of things you can do (especially while on a layover) to do to get the best seating, especially as many seats won’t open up until 24 hours before the flight (especially for emergency exit rows).
