Stuck on a layover at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX)? As Arizona’s largest airport and the main hub for US Airways, the airport is located roughly 3 miles from downtown Phoenix which makes it a very accessible destination for those stuck on a layover. If you’re stuck in the airport during your layover, there are plenty of shops, snack shops and restaurants to keep you entertained. You can find a list of food and shops here, listed by terminal. Terminal 2 offers a Museum Exhibit through the security checkpoint area. In addition, the airport offers a number of services including Travelex, located before and after security in Terminal 4, offers phone cards, currency exchange and a faxing service. If you need a phone card, they can be purchased from machines and shops in Terminal 4 and in Terminal 2. There is a Military & Veterans Hospitality Room upstairs from the Terminal 2 lobby, and there are children play areas in terminal 2, 3, and 4. There are Pet Parks for your pets to take a break in Terminal 2, 3 and 4. The airport also offers tours to community organizations, business groups, school children and more. If you arrive at night or are looking for a place to rest, there are a number of hotels near the airport. The Hilton Phoenix Airport Hotel is located 1.5 miles from the airport. You can also find a number of local hotels of varying price points located here.

Camelback Mountain
The red sandstone Camelback Mountain is a big attraction in Phoenix for the outdoorsy types. You can hike the somewhat challenging trails to the top to catch a great view of the desert city.

Heard Museum
One of Phoenix’s first cultural attractions, Heard Museum is a collection of exhibits dedicated to learning about American Indian art and culture.
