Layover At King Khalid Airport in Riyadh, Saudi ArabiaIf you’re stuck inside the airport during your layover in Saudi Arabia, there’s plenty to do. The airport has a shopping area, restaurants (including Pizza Hut, Codo and more), post office, a large domed mosque, lounges, and a Royal Pavillion. There are also ATM machines, a bank, and a first aid clinic.

If you arrive at night or are looking for a place to rest, the Makarim Airport Hotel is a first class hotel located inside the airport. In addition, there are many hotels near the airport, as well as a great range of hotels further in Riyadh.

If you plan on leaving the airport and traveling to Riyadh during your layover, the airport has rental cars available. The rental car offices are located at the entryway of the public parking lots. The airport also has metered taxis, and a free shuttle service to local hotels. There is no public transportation available (and woman are not allowed to drive).

Kingdom Centre Tower

The most iconic building the Riyadh, the Kingdom Center is a 65 story skyscraper in the center of the city. It is the third tallest building in Saudi Arabia, and home to a shopping mall, and the Four Seasons Hotel Riyadh.

Al Faisaliyah Center

As far as shopping goes, this upscale mall has over three floors of major international brand names, and lots of places to eat. The mall is in the Al Faisaliyah Tower, also called the Star Dome, is a 44 floor commercial skyscraper. Check out the viewing deck below the ball at the top of the building for a great view of the city.

National Museum

Opened in 1999, the National Museum is home to galleries of Islamic history and displays about Saudi Arabia. There are also galleries about the hajj and the two holy mosques.
