Nicky Hilton – I sooo look forward to layovers in Heathrow airport. What other airport has Harrods, Chanel and a facialist??

Sarah Silverman – Nothing like a nice 4 hour layover where I can sit in a sticky chair and just relax.

Joel McHale – At the airport kid’s play room w/my boys. There’s vomit in 1 corner. It’s all the kids want 2 play with. It’s kind of like college I guess

Pete Wentz – Just asked my son if he’s gonna be a sweet boy on the plane he responded with the sound “beep!” Not sure how to take that.

If you arrive at night, or are looking for a place to rest during your Beirut Layover, there are many hotel options at varying price points. The airport suggests these hotels, and you can also find a good comparison of Beirut hotels and pricing here.

If you’re planning on leaving the airport to explore Beirut, certified taxis are available in front of the terminals (they are marked with an airport logo on the side) and regular taxis are also available (rates are negotiable). Car rental from a number of companies is also available – click here for more information.

LayoverGuide.com’s Suggestions For Things To Do On A Beirut Layover:

Jeita Grotto
One of the top tourist attractions in Beirut, you can explore these spectacular underground caves by boat. There’s also a cable car that will take you to an upper grotto.

Churches of Harissa
Looking for a gorgeous view, take the cable car up the side of the mountain to the Churches of Harissa. From here you’ll have an amazing view of Lebanon and on clear days you can see all the way to Cyprus.

Temples of Baalbek
Only for those on long layovers, you can travel roughly 55 miles from Beirut to Baalbek where you’ll find the Temples of Baalbek, a complex of ruins on the top of a hill in the Bekkaa valley.

Al-Omari Mosque
Considered the city’s Grand Mosque, Al-Omari Mosque is one of the oldest and biggest mosques in the city. It was transformed from a church in 1291.

None of these interest you? For more suggestions of things to do on your Beirut Layover, click here.

Time picks its top 11 Iphone Applications:

Pandora
It’s easy to grow tired of listening to the same iTunes songs, day after day. Pandora addresses that problem by supplying a constant stream of free new music to your phone.

Midomi
This wizardly program can identify just about any radio song when you hold your iPhone to a speaker. You can also sing or hum a tune and Midomi will identify it. That comes in handy when you’ve got a riff stuck in your head but don’t know where it’s from.

Remote

Yelp
Find nearby restaurants, bars and banks using the iPhone’s built-in GPS. Yelp offers thousands of reviews from its regular-Joe users, who are passionate about their favorite spots to eat and drink.

NYTimes
The Times has done an excellent job of making its voluminous newspaper easy to read on the iPhone. Find stories by section or look at the day’s most popular articles.

WritingPad
A hidden gem, this little app allows you to circumvent the iPhone’s standard hunt-and-peck fingertip typing — a major iPhone-user gripe —when you’re composing an e-mail message.

Stanza
Read free classics like The Sorrows of Young Werther or The Waste Land with this app. Add as many books as you want from a large library of public domain titles, or add lengthy Word or PDF files from your computer.

Jott
For those who don’t like typing on the iPhone’s virtual keyboard, Jott transcribes voice memos into text that can be filed for future reference. Just tap the screen and speak into the phone for up to 15 seconds.

Google Mobile App
As soon as you start typing, the search box analyzes what you’re looking for and scans both the Web and your phone’s address book.

Instapaper
This app lets you send articles you find online directly to your phone. Set up an account on Instapaper.com, then download the app from the iTunes store onto your iPhone.
